The idea of creating a modular phone, obviously, has good prospects. And Google has taken this idea forward, which is almost a guarantee of the appearance of the finished device on the market (the final version will be presented in February).
Now some companies are promoting ideas related to modular devices, and such projects look quite interesting. Thus, the Finnish Circular Devices proposed used modules (if in working condition) to use to create a supercomputer.
The idea is quite simple: when the owner of the modular device decides to replace the processor module, you can put the case of a special PC, adding a little more productive capacity. Provided that there are a large number of such modules (this requires, of course, that modular telephones become very popular), and the PC architecture will support the addition of a virtually unlimited number of elements, you can create very powerful computing complexes.

Thus, the project Puzzlecluster still reduces the level of "electronic waste", plus adds the ability to create the necessary devices for many areas of human activity. The announcement picture shows a small PC that works with used phone modules. In fact, such computers can be much larger and more powerful.
So far, the project is simply a concept that will be difficult to implement, and which will depend on many factors, including the popularization of the notorious Google Ara or, for example,
Puzzlephone (the concept being developed by the same company
Circular Devices ).
