The new version of the Steam client has the function of
broadcasting gaming sessions over the Internet . Now this feature is open to all users.

Everyone decides who to broadcast the game. The first time a friend sends a request for viewing, a dialog box appears where you can set the broadcast settings.

If you select the option "Anyone can watch my game," then the broadcast will appear in a special
directory of broadcasts on the Steam website. Only live broadcast is available, video recordings are not saved (except when the Steam administration records the broadcast on the user's complaint for later consideration and administrative measures).
The developers emphasize that the Steam client records from the screen only when the game is running in the active window. Other windows are not recorded: if you switch to another window, then during the broadcast, viewers will see the splash screen. However, in the client, you can change this setting and adjust the full video broadcast of all events on the screen.
As for sounds, here it is still impossible to isolate the sounds of the game, so that all sounds heard from the speakers will be broadcast.
So far, the broadcast is available only under Windows 7/8. Later support will be added in clients for Linux, OSX and Windows Vista.
By the way, the new Steam client has implemented
many other innovations , including the in-game FPS counter and reduced consumption of CPU resources. In the version for Linux, fixed a bug with the
accidental deletion of all files on the computer and external media .
