Welcome to XinCheJian - or Shanghai Hackspace

We continue our series of reviews of the Middle Kingdom.

We have already talked about the Hackspace of Shenzhen ( TechSpace , Chaihuo Make Space ) and the Hackspace of Beijing . They also talked about hackspace in Hong Kong .
')
And it was the turn of Shanghai - the hackspace Xin Che Jian (by the way, the first hakspace of China, opened in 2010).

Some facts about Shanghai, this is a city where:
- the longest metro in the world
- Shanghai port, including the deep-water port, is the largest in the world
- there is a monument to Pushkin (the only one in China),
- trains from the airport go at a speed of 430 km / h (breaking 30 km in 7 minutes),
- there is “street number one” - Nanjing street - one of the busiest shopping streets in the world
- Jinmao skyscraper (Jinmao Tower) - the observation platform of the Jinmao skyscraper, located at an altitude of 340 meters and is the largest observation platform in China in terms of area.

But, I suspect, not many Russian tourists visited the Shanghai hackspace. What is there?

Along with the hackspace, Fablab is also located - they are under the same roof (they moved that year).

Hackspace

Here is the entrance to the hackspace:

We can notice the umbrella on duty - it is convenient if a heavy downpour began suddenly on the street.

And the downpours in Shanghai are strong:

Here is the Hackspace room itself, this is most likely a co-working area, a project storage area

in the left corner we can see the aquarum and the plants, in the upper right we see the projector - not a bad thing for presentations or Skype conversations.

If we turn to the right, we will see a marker board, computer jobs.

all in a working / creative mess.

At the construction site on the right, there is an interesting vegetable powder:

The purpose of which is aromatic, if anyone knows the details - enlighten.

The project of automatic watering plants:

If we go through the door further, we will get to another room, where we will see a workplace for practicing electronics:

From the left, the door where we came from, and to the right, through the glass, we already see the FabLab, where we will be soon.

Here is a table that is closer to us, from a different angle:

We see the necessary measuring equipment, and a soldering station.

And here is the same table, on the other hand:

We also see oscilloscopes, and a soldering dryer - for surface mounting.

If we now turn left, we will be right in front of the entrance to the FabLab.

Fablab

On the right is a list of prices for visiting FabLab.

We go to the FabLab room, and on the left we see the area for turning / drilling works and various grinding equipment:

Turning to the right - we will see, desired by many lovers of robotics and DIY (including me) - a laser / engraving machine (on the left in the corner - milling CNC):

We see the door on the right, go into it, and get into the working area of FabLab:

And now the same room, from a different angle, the door on the right - this is where we came from (there is drilling equipment and a laser cutter):

We see areas for carpentry work (we will see a stand on the wall later), and the 3d printer zone is a stand, and a table with 3D printed models (the “3D print alley”).

Here is the main table in FabLab (which we saw as logged in):

On it we see a folding 3D printer (with a handle - in the form of a briefcase), far left - familiar to all 3D-DIY-enthusiasts - Mendel frame , arduino with dummy, and on the right again a box with a mysterious powder :)

Here's a carpentry area closer:

3d printer is configured on the table

On the right racks with accessories, and a rack with 3D printers:

Everything is quite convenient and affordable.

And here is the “alley 3d printing”:

Where are 3d printers on the left, and what they have printed on the right.

Here are the printers:

Here are the results of 3D printing on the right:

Prices

Here is the pricing:

Hakspeys: 100 yuan / month or 450 yuan for 6 months
FabLab: 180 Yuan / month, or 100 Yuan for members of the Hackspace.

(RMB exchange rate at the moment - 9.9 rubles)

Developments

Hackspace constantly hosts events / masterclasses, here is a list of some (December, January):

Projects

There is a large enough list of projects that participants in the hackspace are doing, here are some:

Impression

Of course, what can I say - I am happy for the residents of Shanghai - good equipment, a good set of master classes.

If you are interested in it, you can search for hackspoys, fab labs, CMCs in your city (there are more and more of them every year), and find 3D printers, laser cutters, arduino, and of course enthusiasts and geeks.

For the provided material thanks targence .
