Tesla Motors has previously made a huge pool of its patents open, so that Tesla technologies are more actively implemented by various manufacturers. Now Toyota has taken this step. Only this company is promoting its own idea - cars on fuel cells. According to the company's management, hydrogen will be the main fuel for cars in the next 100 years.
Toyota has
opened its 5,680 patents related to energy from fuel cells for everyone. This means that the technology provided can be used by anyone who wants, without paying royalties.

The Toyota leadership believes that this will help bring the date for the exit of vehicles with fuel cells “into people”. The company believes that the discovery of patents "will accelerate the metabolism of research." It may well be that it will work, and other manufacturers will start their own research projects in this area, drawing on the experience and knowledge provided by Toyota. In this case, the ecosystem of components and assemblies for fuel cell vehicles will be developed in a few years.
Toyota understands that switching to “hydrogen” cars is a matter of many years, even decades. At the same time, the company does not doubt the correctness of such a transition.

The first hydrogen car, the
Toyota Mirai , will be sold in California, USA, at a price of $ 5,700. The first sales are scheduled to open this year. Of course, the main problem of such cars is the lack of a developed infrastructure of the corresponding charging stations. This is a very difficult task, but, according to Toyota, feasible. The state of California has already received 47 million to build 28 such stations.
