On December 22, Mail.ru
announced that on December 30, 2014, the beta test period for Mail.ru Clouds will end. The company decided to mark this event with two restrictions: first, from December 30, new users can get only 25 GB of free space instead of starting 100 GB, as it was before. Secondly, in the "Cloud" you can no longer save files weighing more than 2 GB. Prior to this, the limit of 2 GB was only for users of the web version of the cloud, whereas client users could upload files weighing up to 32 GB to the cloud. Already downloaded heavy files are still available without any restrictions.

The company comments on these restrictions as follows:
- Statistics show that now the volume of the cloud for an active user is on average 3-5 GB, so this place should be enough with a margin.
- According to internal statistics, today less than 1% of users keep at least one file in the Cloud weighing more than 1 GB.
Let me remind you that a year ago, from December 20, 2013 to January 20, 2014, Mail.ru held a campaign to distribute a terabyte of storage for free and for all to promote "Clouds". Then she was accompanied by a scandal involving ambiguous wording in the user agreement, which ended in his
correction . Nevertheless, the campaign led “mad traffic” to the “Cloud”, and now, it turns out, when the promotion tasks are solved, can you get rid of “less than 1% of users” storing heavy files and occupying more than average 3-5 GB?
