The lamp that is watching you: the Chinese have built a camera in a light bulb

Chinese manufacturer of light bulbs with built-in speakers (which is already quite unusual) Sengled is preparing to start selling light bulbs, video cameras Snap ("snapshot").

The light bulb was shown at CES 2015, where it was immediately awarded the prize “Best Innovative Product”. Built-in camera shoots in HD resolution and has WDR (WIDE Dynamic Range) technology for wide-angle shooting.

The light bulb allows you to watch what is happening in the house of its owner through a smartphone, online or to put everything on the record and watch at any time. Moreover, the camera is able to recognize faces and has night vision, which allows you to keep track of who is doing what at any time of the day and in any light condition.

Sengled US general manager Alex Rouen compares their light bulbs with Apple smartphones in an interview with CNBC. He says that their company is trying to change the approach to the use of household light bulbs, as Steve Jobs used to change the approach to smartphones:

“The essence of smart homes is to change our life style, improve its quality, and therefore accessibility for everyone is a priority for Sengled,” says Rouen. However, the prices of their light bulbs are also more like epplovskie: $ 170 for a couple of lamps with speakers.

Now Snap is in preparation for production, and has not yet been on sale.

Sengled is one of the most advanced companies in the field of LED-technology. According to McKinsey, the market for which it operates will grow to $ 108 billion by 2020. At the moment, the company's product range includes three types of smart bulbs: Puls, Puls Solo and Boost.

The first two are equipped with light diodes and integrated Bluetooth speakers. It is enough to screw them into the lamps, download the application to your smartphone, to listen to music with melodies and at the same time change the level of lighting in one tap.

The third is, in turn, an amplifier (repeater) of a Wi-Fi signal and can work with absolutely any smart home system. It is also just enough to screw into the lamp and connect to the network.
