Almost every new technology goes through certain stages of talkability or popularity (in English it is called the capacious word “hype”). No matter - iPhone, e-paper or Web 2.0 - the cycle is the same everywhere, although its duration is different. At first everyone talks and discusses the first samples. Then comes the peak of expectations, then the illusions inevitably dissipate and technology temporarily goes into the shadows. Already at the last, longest stage, the gradual introduction of technology into life begins, and then its mentioning grows again.
At the moment, dozens of different technologies are at different stages of this process. Analytical company Gartner constantly analyzes this “hype” for each technology, and recently it has compiled all the current data on one informative graph. It reflects the situation today. Different icons indicate technologies with different cycle times.
