The UK Government Communications Center has built a cluster of 66 Raspberry Pi

The UK Government Communications Center , which can be called an NSA analog, has developed a cluster of 66 Raspberry Pi mini-PCs . The purpose for which the cluster was designed, voiced as "educational." Unfortunately, representatives of the body do not decipher it, but the project is really interesting. At the same time, the Center itself does not intend to use the cluster for hacking codes or monitoring telephone networks.

Most likely, the cluster was created as part of an internal research project, during which three unnamed employees of the Center decided to create their own cluster of Raspberry Pi. The basic unit of the cluster is eight networked devices, and the unit received its own name - “OctaPi”. The unit size was tried to be optimal, taking into account the geometric size, power consumption, cooling, etc. Each unit has a LED display.

Each OctaPi can be used as a separate unit. You can create clusters from units. In the case of the current project, 8 separate “OctaPi”, plus 2 control nodes, were connected to the WiFi module, touchscreen and camera. Each mini-PC - Bs. If you change to the second model, B2, the cluster would become much more powerful, and the price of creating it would remain the same.

Cluster control software is based on Node.js, Bootstrap and Angular. The project itself was named Bramble. The project was pozaan during the Big Bang Fair event, held in Birmingham, the purpose of the event - the involvement of children and adolescents in scientific and engineering work.
