Set for 3D printing of board games

3D printers have already changed a lot in various areas of industry and product prototyping. But we will see even more interesting things in the future, when technology is improved and printers will become cheaper. For example, 3D printing can breathe a second life into good old board games. That is the goal of the Open Board Game project, the community for developing new games with a catalog of details.

The site was launched only last year, so there is not much there yet. In the open access is only a basic set of parts and a few more individual figures, but this is only the beginning! Attention to the project should attract and crowdfunding campaign, which started on Indiegogo (although, so far without much scope, that is, the result does not shine).

In this constructor, a field of hexagonal details is assembled. On the basis of such blocks are quite complex structures. Gaming figures can then move across the field (56 models of combat robots have already been developed).



The project with board games was launched by Chilean company Thinker Thing, which specializes in 3D printing. Its founder has been making games for 25 years, and for the last three years has been fascinated by 3D printing, which he told in an interview with 3DPrint. The entrepreneur is going to provide authors with a convenient platform for developing and selling their creations. He himself will earn on the sale of 3D-printers and their games. Investors of the project will receive membership in the "club makers" and access to the closed part of the site with a beta version of the details editor.

By the way, the company Thinker Thing was mentioned earlier on Habré : then it got into the news thanks to an unusual idea: to combine a 3D printer with an electroencephalograph that reads brain activity, and the software tries to interpret this data, showing people arbitrary shapes and tracking emotions.
