If you believe climate scientists, then at the moment the climate on Earth is experiencing warming, which, according to some experts, is associated with human activity. According to this view, carbon dioxide emissions from industrial activities create a greenhouse effect, which increases the temperature of the planet.
A study by the
International Energy Agency (IEA) shows that in 2014, despite a 3% economic growth, the amount of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere did not change. It is not yet clear whether this is a simple fluctuation, or whether the situation is really beginning to change.
The reasons for not increasing CO
2 emissions may be different. This is an increase in the use of renewable energy sources, and a decrease in coal consumption by China. It is possible that the use of fossil fuels has already passed its peak. According to a recent study, the peak of fossil fuel use will be reached no later than 10 years, after which a decrease will begin.
')
The amount of gas emitted into the atmosphere during observations at IEA decreased only three times. It was in the early 1980s, in 1992 and in 2009 - all these years were marked by serious economic crises.
It is interesting that not all scientists agree with the
influence of human activity on warming, and even with the very
fact of this warming . For example, warming may be associated with the natural cycles of the planet, when there is a period with a high temperature between two glacial periods. Some even believe that the
Kyoto Protocol , under which some countries have pledged to reduce production emissions and has introduced quota trade, is used to put
pressure on developing countries and curb their production.
