Based on information from the
National Vulnerability Database (NVD), GFI Software has compiled a
list of operating systems and software applications for which the most vulnerabilities were recorded in 2014.
In total, 7038 new vulnerabilities were added to the database last year, that is, it was replenished with about 19 bugs a day. This is significantly more than in the previous year, and the trend for improvement is observed for the third year in a row.

24% of registered bugs are assigned a high degree of danger. This is less than in 2013, but the de facto number of dangerous vulnerabilities has increased in absolute terms.

The largest number of “holes” falls on third-party software applications (83%). The share of operating systems - only 14%. Another 4% found in hardware devices.
Strangely enough, but among operating systems, the most vulnerabilities were found in Apple Mac OS X. Apple iOS ranks second in leakiness.

PS Apple fans dissatisfied with such results
note that for some reason, the compilers of the rating did not include Android in it, and so he would surely take 1st place. In addition, bugs in different versions of Windows were divided into different categories, and bugs in different versions of OS X summarized together. Allegedly, the authors of the rating skillfully manipulated the facts.
