Russian citizen requires the court to charge Google 50,000 rubles for reading his emails
A resident of Yekaterinburg Anton Burkov demands to ban Google from reading his emails, the newspaper "Izvestia" reports . A lawsuit demanding to recover from Google 50 thousand rubles a Russian citizen filed in the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow. According to Burkov, the search engine robot monitors users - it scans correspondence, analyzes interests and forms contextual advertising based on them. The lawsuit will be considered on February 16.
After mentioning in the correspondence of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, Anton Burkov began to see the advertisement of air tickets to this city and the services of lawyers.
Some time ago, I noticed that my correspondence on the Internet was read, and it was none other than Google’s robot. I began to pay attention to the fact that soon after I wrote emails, ads appeared on Google pages with goods and services close to the subject of writing.
The Russian office of Google does not comment on lawsuits. On the company's website in the section Information Security, the company declares:
Our systems analyze content and emails automatically. Thanks to this data, we improve the work of services, in particular, we ensure the safety of our users, we detect spam and malware. We are constantly improving ways to collect, store and process information. In particular, we restrict our employees, contractors, agents with access to data, as well as using SSL encryption and a two-stage authentication system, protecting users from possible attempts to change, disclose, or destroy the data we have stored.
In 2013, Microsoft criticized the company for reading Google letters from users. Under the slogan “Do you think Google respects your privacy? Think again. ”Microsoft explained how Outlook.com“ gives priority to privacy ”, while Google“ reads all your personal email correspondence ”to show users advertisements based on it.
