From May 1, the Post of Russia will open parcels sent to the 2018 World Cup regions

"Mail of Russia" at the time of the World Cup 2018 enhances security measures. For this period, a special procedure has been established for receiving postal items, RBC was told in the press service of the Post of Russia.

“In the period from May 1 to July 25, 2018 inclusive, we accept parcels, EMS shipments and 1st class parcels, with mandatory verification of the investment to control the absence of objects and substances prohibited for shipment. These postal items must be presented to the employees of the post office in the open form, ”it was informed.

The rules apply to shipments in the following regions of the Russian Federation:

• Kaliningrad region,
• Krasnodar region,
• Moscow and Moscow region,
• Nizhny Novgorod Region,
• Republic of Tatarstan,
• Mordovia
• Rostov region,
• Samara Region,
• St. Petersburg and Leningrad region,
• Sverdlovsk region.

Letters will not be opened by checking them closed using special equipment as part of the standard procedure.

Mail recommends that customers send parcels and EMS shipments to the 2018 World Cup regions with an attachment list.

“This is a standard practice for postal operators around the world during major sporting events,” the press service added. “Similar security measures were applied at post offices during the XXII Olympic Winter Games and the XI Paralympic Winter Games of 2014 in Sochi, as well as the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.”

Special rules are introduced in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 202 “On the features of the use of enhanced security measures during the FIFA World Cup 2018 and the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in the Russian Federation”.

If the parcel did not pass inspection at departure, then it will be opened directly in the department. This mandatory rule also applies to shipments from abroad, including from China.

So in order to avoid criminal prosecution, citizens of the Russian Federation should refrain from ordering goods prohibited from being shipped for this period, such as camera pens, miniature voice recorders, camera lighters, hidden microphones, and so on. For such a purchase threatens to restrict freedom or forced labor for up to four years (article 138.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
