
In August 2017, DataArt launched a gaming self-test knowledge platform for IT-specialists
Skillotron . For six months, more than 7 thousand people from 54 countries have become its users, and we managed to collect interesting data about the players' behavior patterns. The study does not claim to be universal - we do not claim that Skillotron statistics reflect the state of affairs in IT as a whole. But it was interesting for us to look at it, especially since DataArt Skillotron is an unusual experience in developing our own product.
Programming languages in Russia
According to Skillotron, the undisputed leader among programming languages in Russia is Java. It is even more popular among programmers from Poland (60%), Great Britain (34.3%) and Germany (26.1%).

In second place is C #, also common in Argentina, Bulgaria and the USA. Very little inferior JavaScript.
The less common Python in Russia ranks second in India (15.79%), and the closing Go rating is most popular in the UK (4.29%).
Number of skills
The number of technologies that programmers pass tests can be called an indicator of diversified development. Among Skillotron users, the most versatile were experts from Armenia.

Russian programmers, on average, are tested on five topics. Among them, the most common are:
- Java language and its main libraries;
- Basic JavaScript;
- .NET and NET Core Libraries;
- Python language;
- General questions on QA (quality assurance);
- Computers;
- IT history;
- PHP language;
- Android;
- Scrum
Average score
According to the average result, specialists from Russia were closing in the top five. Most points scored by representatives of Ukraine.

Time to play
On average, the test takes 5.5 minutes, in Russia - 7.13 minutes. And in Kazakhstan, he is given more than ten minutes.
