Hourly pay experience

I used to set the size of the board like this: "Well, it will cost ... xxx." It seemed that the hourly payment would not please the customer, as it would not give him an initial idea of ​​how much he would have to pay.

In practice, it turned out that the hourly payment is more like for me and the customer.

After the meeting or talking on the phone, the customer is convinced that I can be trusted, therefore he perceives the hourly payment positively. I also tell that time is counted accurately and automatically (using GnoTime, Linux) and is rounded off in its favor. The customer likes this approach because he knows what he pays for. He has no feeling that he pays too much (if, of course, he is satisfied with the cost of 1 hour).

In order not to let the customer into doubts about the upcoming time at all, I approximately estimate the necessary time, indicating that the work may take ± several hours or days (depending on the volume).

Of course, some work that takes a certain amount of time can be done on a fixed fee.
