VKontakte plans to launch an internal money transfer system

In the social network "VKontakte" intend to introduce a system of internal payments between users, the newspaper "Izvestia" , citing sources close to the leadership of the resource. The planned functionality will most likely be repeated in Mail.ru, the Odnoklassniki social network.

The transfer of money will be between the personal pages of users. And for the transfer of funds details of the recipient will not be needed, just enough attached to the profile of a bank card. The size of the commission for such transfers is also unknown.

Such a step may be due to the fact that the social network plans to capture market share of cashless transfers. According to statistics from Yandex.Money, the number of transfers through the system in the first seven months of this year increased by 74%, and direct transfers from card to card doubled.

The huge user base and the success of this functionality in another project of the company, Odnoklassniki, shows that it will be popular in VKontakte too.

The functionality of internal payments was launched in Odnoklassniki more recently - in February of this year. It is possible that the less popular social network Mail.ru was used as a huge test platform before introducing the system to VKontakte.

The security issue is also not too critical, since, obviously, Mail.ru will use the practices and technologies of other payment systems, and entering CVV and using 3D-Secure will protect the lion’s share of users.

However, in the future, a social network may be overwhelmed by attempts to hack pages in order to “borrow from friends up to ZP” using personal messages. Whether the administration will somehow inform the users about the threat from fraudsters using social engineering introduce restrictions on translation or other restrictions - it is not yet clear.
