IBM Spectrum Computing: Cognitive Technologies plus Software-Defined Infrastructure Solutions
Last month, our company announced its intention to develop a range of software-defined infrastructure solutions through cognitive functions. A comprehensive solution of this type is already there - this is IBM Spectrum Computing. The functions of such a system provide increased access speed to the results based on data from applications and analytics.
We have developed this solution in order to help our partners solve the problem of extracting valuable information for them from large data arrays. At the same time, the goal was to speed up high-performance analysis or machine learning. Such technology may well be used in various fields: medicine, industry, science, economy. Thus, genetics will be able to identify modified DNA regions in order to find a way to cure cancer of various types. Car developers will be able to see which design elements need to be improved in order to improve a particular vehicle characteristic. Banks will be able to personalize their services - this is a relatively simple way to attract more customers. ')
This type of software platform includes such elements as the IBM Spectrum Conductor, IBM Spectrum LSF and IBM Spectrum Symphony: • Designed to speed up data analysis, IBM Spectrum Conductor software works with cloud-based applications and with an open source environment, reducing the time it takes to produce results and allows you to distribute resources to more and more complex applications. At the same time, it protects and manages data throughout its life cycle. • Integrating Apache Spark IBM Spectrum Conductor with Spark software simplifies the deployment of Apache Spark, an open source analytics platform for big data analytics, and allows for 60% faster processing of information processing results. • Accelerating the research and design of the IBM Spectrum LSF software — versatile load management software. A flexible and user-friendly interface helps organizations accelerate research and design 150 times, controlling costs through advanced resource allocation and rational use of resources.
IBM Spectrum LSF provides extensive workload and resource management capabilities for high-performance research, design, and application modeling. Improved mobile user interface, as well as an optimized reporting and load display system for improved user experience. In general, according to IBM, the new solutions provide a fivefold increase in throughput and a threefold increase in scalability compared to previous versions of the IBM Platform LSF.
IBM Spectrum Computing has been developed for about two years, taking into account customer feedback, which required advanced analytical tools of the new generation. The platform also manages a large number of applications, which provides an efficient allocation of resources for quick results.
The new service due to the use of cognitive technologies allows to increase the load on computing power while reducing the cost of managing the entire fleet of equipment. Plus, IBM Spectrum Computing speeds up getting results when working with Big Data and increases the efficiency of such work. In particular, this is made possible by the allocation of resources between local, cloud and hybrid platforms. Open source supported desktop environments include Hadoop and Apache Spark.
In the near future, we plan to open access to the main element of our IBM Spectrum Conductor platform for scientists and developers in the field of Big Data.
