Russian scientists have been working on a Hyperloop analogue for two years.

About a week ago, Hyperloop One successfully tested its transport system in a one-kilometer test site. After that, it became clear that there are no obstacles for further testing of the system - and they will be carried out, already on a longer stretch of the route.

The project, as it turned out, was closely watched by the state-owned Russian Railways, which does not mind building an ultrafast tunnel in Russia in conjunction with Hyperloop One. “Russian Railways” and the American company Hyperloop One a few months ago created a working group to discuss cooperation, ”said Ekaterina Grishkovets, a representative of the Summa group, whose venture capital fund Caspian VC invested in Hyperloop One. Moreover, today Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov said that St. Petersburg has its own development , similar to Hyperloop.

The minister said that Russian scientists have been working on creating high-speed transport projects for several years, RBC reports . “As for the Hyperloop project, similar work has been going on for a long time and not only in America. Of course, the project Ilona Mask has gotten some momentum lately. We hope we will see a significant test area soon, ”he said.

“Do we envision steps [to use such technologies]?” I guess, yes. Our transport strategy reflects the use of new means of transport, to which this project can also be attributed ... We do not just look at such projects, but we understand that they have a future, ”Sokolov said.

“Two years ago, at the St. Petersburg University of Ways and Messages, I became acquainted with a prototype. We can say that the technological principle has already been implemented, ”said the Minister of Transport.

Unfortunately, the Minister did not tell about the technical details of the domestic analogue of Hyperloop.
