Electronic guns to attack drones become more sophisticated
Last October, Battelle created DroneDefender, an electronic gun that knocks drones with a powerful radio signal. The scope of application of the gun is quite extensive - after all, drones fly over nuclear power plants, military facilities, stadiums during competitions and in other places where they can be simply dangerous. In addition, drones are also used as spyware.
That is why several companies are engaged in the creation of systems for the disposal of drones. One of the systems is the already mentioned DroneDefender radio-electronic gun. Now, using this gun around the drone, you can create a radio silence zone, interrupting the signaling on the side of the operator. In addition, the system prevents the drone from being positioned by GPS or GLONASS signals. Works gadget at a distance of 400 meters. This year there was also a new system - the “gun” Dronebuster, developed by Flex Force. Representatives of the company said they began to develop their device immediately after the drones began to interfere with firefighters in California . This is how the first version of DroneDefender works: ')
This is not a concept, but a real device, which is already used by some government organizations. The device operates in approximately the same way as the DroneDefender, creating powerful interference to the entire radio spectrum around the drone. But this is a smarter device that can determine the type of signal transmitted by the drone. Plus, the Dronebuster is much smaller than its competitor.
An enhanced version of the Dronebuster can not only interfere, but after analyzing the type of drone signal, give the command “fly home” or “land”. The “gun” transmits in automatic mode commands for multiple systems of drones in a looped mode, which allows you to select the desired command, which the drone executes. In order to make the system more secure, interruption of the GPS and GLONASS signals becomes possible only after installing a special card. A card is provided only to government organizations.
If the Federal Communications Commission approves the device, soon, various Dronebuster models may appear in the hands of officials and law enforcement officers. It may well be that devices of this type will appear on the black market.
