SamSat-218 is silent. Possible reason: unopened antenna

On April 28, the Soyuz-2.1a rocket launched three spacecraft into orbit, including the SamSat-218 satellite developed by students of the Samara State Aerospace University. A week has already passed since the launch of the satellite, but no signals have yet been received from it. The problem may be in the unrevealed antenna.

The Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle, successfully launched on April 28 from the Vostochny cosmodrome, launched the 645-kilogram Lomonosov spacecraft, the Aist-2D remote sensing satellite and the SamSat student satellite satellite (SamSat -218 "). The “Lomonosov” and “Aist-2D” vehicles turned out to be in the radio visibility zone at 08:13 on the same day, while the student satellite was silent.

The developers of SamSat-218 turned to the help of the amateur radio community . The nanosatellite radio beacon transmits every 150 seconds with a Morse code "SamSat-218D" for 15 seconds at a frequency of 145.870 MHz. The developers write that they heard fragmented Morse code on the background of noise, but are not sure of its authenticity. Therefore, they are asked to listen to the broadcast on this frequency, record the audio signal and send it to the mail teomant@bk.ru.

The developers wrote about the possible causes of the problem: "Perhaps the satellite is strongly twisted when exiting the transport and launch container . "

Interfax, citing a source in the industry, says that the reason for the silence of a satellite could be an unopened antenna.

On May 5, no signals were received from the satellite again, as the developers wrote about. They posted a record from the SDR receiver of the entire SamSat-218 satellite hop:
