Rights holders for the first time will require “Yandex” to remove the link from the search results

The Ministry of Communications and Mass Media is currently making the latest amendments to the draft law on the removal of links from search engine issuance upon request from rights holders. At the same time, the right holders themselves decided to test how such a procedure works in the current legal system, before the new law is adopted.

In the near future, the Association for the Protection of Copyright in the Internet (AZAPI) intends to send a letter to the Yandex company with a request to remove links to the torrent tracker Rutracker.org at the request of “The Supervisor. Pelevin download, write Izvestia.

The rightholders are also unhappy that Rutracker is accessible to users if you enable the Yandex.Turbo mode in the Yandex Browser browser.

Initially, the request to remove Pelevin’s “The Caretaker” was sent to the Rutracker administration. They did not respond, so AZAPI at the end of last year filed a lawsuit with the Moscow City Court. As a result of consideration of the claim, access to Rutracker was blocked in the territory of the Russian Federation.

However, the same link by which the case was won in a court of law still appears in the search results of Yandex.

“Yandex” provides information on sites that are denied access in Russia by a court decision. This is unacceptable, ”says AZAPI CEO Max Ryabyko.

The decision of AZAPI to appeal to Yandex was commented by Marina Surygina, general director of the online cinema: “Actually, a very strange request from the copyright holders.
