Adobe is preparing an online version of Photoshop

Dozens of startups that are trying to create a full-featured online image editor will be out of work in three to six months - it is in this period that Adobe promises to release a free web version of Adobe Photoshop.



This news was announced yesterday by Bruce Chizen, director of the company. According to him, this is part of Adobe's new strategy to release free online services with embedded advertising. They should complement the existing product line and expand the company's presence in the market. This is especially true now, when more and more functional graphic editors and office applications created using Ajax technology appear on the Internet.



The new strategy has already released an online program Adobe Remix for video editing online (created on the Flex platform). A kind of primitive version of Adobe Premiere .

Like Adobe Remix, the online Photoshop editor will be free, but with greatly reduced functionality.



In the future we can expect the emergence of other online programs from Adobe, as well as hybrid online-offline solutions. In this regard, Adobe’s strategy for transforming its own business model is very similar to Microsoft’s strategy. In both cases, companies are trying to copy the business model of Google (free products, profit from advertising) - this is directly stated by the director of Adobe.
