Video review laptop MSI GT72S 6QF Dragon Edition

MSI GT72S 6QF Dragon Edition is a special edition of the powerful MSI GT72S gaming notebook, which includes a desktop version of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 graphics card (with 8 GB GDDR5) and an Intel Core i7-6820HK processor with an unlocked multiplier (supports overclocking to 4.1 GHz all four cores).

In this video review, we will test the overclocking potential of not only the processor itself, but also the GTX 980 video card, and also check whether the notebook cooling system is coping with the load assigned to it. Tests will traditionally be carried out in synthetic benchmarks, and in the most modern video games. For those who are too lazy to watch the video, we will immediately announce the result: the system really stably behaves during overclocking and, more surprisingly, has no problems with overheating. CPU overclocking can be controlled either manually or automatically through a special utility from MSI. The overclocking of the GPU is controlled by the familiar to many MSI Afterburner, although it should be noted that the overclocking potential of this video card is not as large as that of full-fledged desktop counterparts.

For the toughest scenarios, a special turbo cooling mode is provided, in which both fans spin at maximum speed.

The laptop display is a matte 17.3-inch with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and G-SYNC support (models with UHD are already on sale, but for a gaming laptop, in our opinion, this resolution is redundant). NVIDIA Optimus technology is not supported, switching from discrete graphics to the integrated video core requires a reboot. The amount of RAM is up to 64 GB DDR4, in an easy access there are two slots. The storage system is represented by a 1000 GB hard disk (7200 rpm) and a Super Raid 4 system, which allows to combine two M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen3 X4 solid-state drives in RAID0. Also noteworthy is the gaming keyboard from SteelSeries with a multi-color variable backlight and an excellent 2.1 speaker system with a built-in subwoofer from Dynaudio.
