You may need instructions to simply unpack HTC Vive.

HTC Vive has an impressive bundle, but it's not that easy. The first customers of a set of VR-glasses from Valve and HTC shared a memo sent to them by e-mail, which describes in detail twenty (!!!) individual items that come with Vive. Most of them are already familiar to us and have been in the hands of alpha product testers (by the way, in the early version of Vive there were significantly more wires), but still, the final set looks more like a Lego kit for adults reports theverge .

Most of the difficulties arise with the installation of a VR-orientation system, which the manufacturer proposes to use. Unlike Oculus or Sony products, the Vive uses a laser tracking system for a user’s location using several beacons. They must be fixed to the walls and connected to the PC. Coupled with two controllers, power cables, USB cables, and (!) Brackets, the design is quite cumbersome.

If you pre-ordered Vive, then until April 5, you have time to understand the contents of the kit presented above, and the order of its unpacking. No one said that being one of the first users is easy.
