The official news agency DPRK TsTAK reported that the country successfully conducted ground tests of the rocket engine solid fuel. The tests were led by the head of state, Kim Jong-un,
writes TASS. The advantages of solid-fuel engines are the relative simplicity, the absence of the problem of possible leakage of toxic fuel, the possibility of long-term storage, reliability.
At the same time, it is possible to use solid propellant rocket engines both in astronautics and for the creation of combat rockets. Now North Korea, as you know, works in two directions at once. For example, at the very beginning of February of this year, the DPRK
announced the successful launch of the space satellite Ganmenson-4 with the help of the launch vehicle Rocket Unha-3.
As for the combat missiles, over the past few weeks, the North Korean military conducted several launches of short- and medium-range missiles. Despite the fact that the UN claims to violate the resolutions of its Security Council, the DPRK insists on its sovereign right to launch launches.
Anyway, but a closed country with limited technologies really managed to launch a satellite into orbit. It now remains to find out why it is planned to use a solid rocket engine - for peaceful purposes (space) or for the military (ballistic missiles).
