On the official Oculus support page, the question was asked: “Can I install the Oculus software on another disk or directory?”. The answer is: “No. Currently, Oculus software and VR applications must be saved to C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Oculus. In future versions, we plan to include support for installing downloaded VR applications anywhere. ”

As you know, most gamers use an SSD disk with a capacity from 128 GB to 256 GB, designed for operating systems, several applications and games that require high performance, while gamers are the core of the target audience for the first generation Oculus Rift. Being unable to install VR applications on an additional drive, PC users are in an even more unpleasant situation than owners of 500 GB non-replaceable hard drives, which are not enough for modern games, according to forbes .

The representative of Oculus replied:
')
“In the near future, we will be able to install downloaded VR applications on any disks or directories. Doing it now does not make sense for a number of reasons, but we realize this opportunity as soon as possible. "

Lucky Palmer, inventor of the Oculus Rift virtual reality helmet, added: “We are in the process of building our support and have not yet reached the final result.”

The question arises: why was such an aspect as choosing the installation location of the software not thought out in advance? Apparently, Oculus will be engaged in “fine-tuning” its product after the release, based on feedback from its users. In any case, using their VR helmet will be a daunting task for the first wave of consumers.
