Instant glue and soda: additional touches

About the instant glue with soda, except that they didn’t make jokes, but everyone is silent about one interesting feature. So, a mixture of cyanoacrylate and soda instantly polymerizes (hardens), releasing heat and perfectly grasping molecular bonds with nearby layers. But not with any. With ABS plastic it is good, and with polypropylene it is bad. Well, so what? When layer-by-layer casting (more precisely, “right”), it is not easy to keep the exact shape of the part. A lot of surplus at the end must be removed mechanically (with a file). What about the "formwork" from the same scrap materials? Artistic 3D printing out of pocket.




I somehow broke the podlokontik in the car. He lay with me for half a year, lay (I thought I'd print a new one, aha), until I came across soda repair of the monitor . Having estimated the cost of replacing the armrest (only with the entire console), I decided to buy the tool with this money. The “officials” would be enough for the whole workshop, probably.

It is noteworthy that it was at this moment that I learned about the photo-curable BONDIC glue, but more on that later.

Formwork


We continue the associative series: instant glue, soda and ... ordinary adhesive tape. It is made of polypropylene, and cyanoacrylate ignores it. This means: do not unstick, just shoot. Taking into account transparency and self-adhesiveness, a beautiful formwork comes out of ordinary “scotch”, giving shape to details even at the stage of polymerization. Since the detail is poured in layers, the process resembles 3D printing in the steampunk genre (instead of water vapor, poisonous evaporation of cyanoacrylate). The tape is then easily removed, a little bit removed with a file, and you're done! You can do and repair, and weird art (only in protective glasses and a respirator mask, perhaps).

Why else need momentality


It is his momentum, I think, that attracts the above-mentioned BONDIC. Human laziness and impatience is a great sales engine. Handheld 3D printer in your pocket.

But back to the soda. I had to drill a thin hole with a depth of two lengths of the drill itself, and even with the help of the purchased drill stand it is not as easy as it seems. Again I remember a joke about two tunnels . This is where the main property manifests itself: the rate of polymerization. Missed? It does not matter, carefully “bury” the hole back, adjusting the drilling installation and drill in a new way, the benefit hardens all in a flash. Not every material forgives mistakes so quickly and easily.

By the way, about the stand for the drill KWB Profi 7778-00. Backlash really cleaned, powerful cast rod, a new level of processing materials at home, delight! And the spoiling effect of the silumin bed :-) However, to drill my part I had to borrow for a couple of days in a DIY supermarket such an add-on of 5mm steel used to fix house beams (and that, and the holes do not need to be drilled):

How much CA glue disappears in vain from improper storage! Do not discard desiccant sachets (silica gel), which can be found in some purchases. Put the tube of glue with silica gel in a transparent bag with a clasp (in which small parts are sold). Then put it all in the fridge, the zipped bag with glue is also not so annoying to family members. Keep out of the reach of children!
