Congressman Kevin McCarthy and Senator John McCain called for changes to the law and again to prohibit the United States from using Russian-made RD-180 rocket engines.

The United Alliance United Launch Alliance has repeatedly
bought Russian RD-180 rocket engines for its Atlas V launch vehicles. These missiles are used by the US Air Force to put military and reconnaissance satellites into orbit.

Some time in the United States already had a ban on their purchase, but due to the lack of an alternative, the ban was lifted. Before the Alliance launches the next-generation Vulcan launch vehicles with American engines, it

Another American company, Orbital Sciences, is developing Antares missiles and the Cygnus space truck, and
