Administrative responsibility for storing unlicensed audio / video files introduced in Belarus

Part 2 of Article 9.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Belarus has been amended . Now administrative liability (fine) is provided not only for the distribution of unlicensed audio / video files, but also for their "storage for the purpose of distribution."

The minimum penalty for individuals for these violations will be 30 basic units (from 6,300,000 rubles, 630 rubles after denomination, $ 300), for legal entities it will be 100 basic units (21 million rubles, 2100 rubles after denomination, $ 1,000).

Changes to the Administrative Code will take effect from April 4, 2016.

Previously, Article 9.21 of the CAO “Violation of copyright, related rights and industrial property rights” provided for liability only for the illegal distribution or illegal use of intellectual property.
