Viagra can be a cure for cancer

The development of new anti-cancer drugs is not the matter of one year. In any country, this requires a huge amount of resources - human, temporary, financial. Regarding the latter, an average of at least $ 750 million is required for an anti-cancer drug project. All these difficulties have led to oncologists trying to find an alternative or addition to existing drugs, something that might be useful in the fight against cancer.

And now, researchers have discovered a new candidate, and a rather specific one - a drug from Pfizer - Viagra. It is worth recalling that initially the pills served as a cure for headaches (according to another version, angina), and then their other properties were discovered, which made the medicine extremely popular among men.

But now there are new side effects, and very positive ones. The fact is that Viagra stops the growth of malignant tumors in mice and some human patients. This is not a joke at all - the results of the new research are published in the reputable medical journal eCancer Medical Science.

Viagra contains the active ingredient PDE5, which improves blood circulation. And everywhere, not only where it was originally calculated, which served as the spread of the drug as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.

But back to the study. This is the work that brought together the results of 25 other studies on the effect of Viagra on cancerous tumors. As it turned out, the tool allows you to deal with various types of cancer, including breast, lung, stomach and others. Another 11 clinical trials of Viagra are currently active, during which physicians study the effect of the active component PDE5 on the development of malignant tumors.

It is clear that all this does not mean that Viagra is a panacea for cancer. No, scientists are talking only about positive changes in the body of cancer patients in people who regularly take a cure for Pfizer. All studies and their conclusions, which are discussed above, are preliminary. Additional testing takes time. The good news is that the drug already exists, and you don’t have to spend a lot of money on it - if the ability to cure certain types of cancer with Viagra is confirmed, clinical trials will be required.

Another good news is that PDE5 is much cheaper than most anti-cancer drugs, so if the medicine is still used, a wide range of buyers will be able to take advantage of it.
