High CRI LED Strip on Aliexpress

It's amazing, but on Aliexpress we managed to find LED strips with a color rendition index (CRI, Ra) above 80 and even above 90.

I wrote many times that for unknown reasons on Aliexpress, there are no good LED lamps - all the lamps I tested were either with a high level of pulsation or with a low color rendering index. Admire yourself on the red-red table with an average level of the final rating of the lamps of less than two points: http://lamptest.ru/results/?brand_12=on&type_1=on.

My reader Andrei Chu managed to find high-quality LED strips on Ali.

I measured the parameters of the five LED strips. The light flux was measured using a two-meter integrating sphere and a Instrument Systems spectrometer, the power consumption of the THD-2 instrument, the color rendering index and the color temperature of the Uprtek MK350D instrument. The pulsation of light from LED strips depends solely on the power source; therefore, it is pointless to measure it when testing tapes - when the tape is powered from a stabilized constant voltage source, the level of light pulsation will always be zero.

A supply voltage of 12 or 24 volts, set using a laboratory power source and an accurate Aneng AN8001 multimeter, was applied to the center of the tape whenever possible.

1. 24-volt ribbon with LEDs of two color temperatures and declared CRI over 90 "Dual Color SuperBright SMD2835 112leds / m, 5m / reel 24V CCT from SiDaWang Led Lighting. $ 38 for 5 meters (approximately 450 rubles per meter).

I tested this tape in three modes: warm light, cold light, warm + cold light.

The seller (and maybe the manufacturer as well) slyly indicates the power and the luminous flux, without specifying that these parameters are valid with the simultaneous switching on of warm and cold LEDs. In the warm light mode, the tape meter gives 686 lm, that is, it shines like a 60-watt incandescent lamp, and it costs much more.

Indices of color rendering in all modes really exceed 90. Warm and cold mode.

Mixed mode (including warm and cold LEDs).

The vast majority of tapes sold on Aliexpress have very low color rendering indices ( often even below 65 ). Perhaps that is why sellers of quality tapes indicate CRI levels right in the product name:

2. 12-volt tape with a neutral light and a CRI above 90 "DC12V High CRI90 Non-waterproof LED Strip Strip White Flexible Strip 60LEDs 12W / M 8mm Wide White PCB Non-waterproof from the manufacturer and UnvarySam Official Store. $ 22.94 for 5 meters (about 270 rubles per meter).

3. A less powerful tape from the same manufacturer “DC12V SM5050 High CRI 90+ LED Light Strip 10MM White PCB Flex Ribbon Strip 30LEDs / M Non-waterproof High Color Rendering Index”. $ 6.50 per meter (about 380 rubles).

Test results:

The power of both tapes turned out to be higher than stated, the luminous flux of the first tape corresponds to the declared one, and in the second one it is almost twice as much as the seller indicated (yes, it also happens). CRI is really above 90:

4. The tape with the stated CRI over 80 "CRI> 80 2017 New Seoul 0.5W 55-65lm / LED 12V LED Strip Light 5630 White IP20 7.36W / m" from the manufacturer CNDIYLF from the store Gree Lamps And Components Limited. $ 9.94 for 5 meters (about 120 rubles per meter).

5. 24-volt tape of the same manufacturer from the same store with a stated power of 15 W / meter "2017 New Commercial CRI> 80 5M 480LED DC 24V Seoul 5730/5630 LED Strip 50 5055m / LED 15W / m 2250lm / m 3000/4000 / 6000K. $ 16.69 for 5 meters (about 200 rubles per meter).

Test results:

With the indication of the parameters of this seller is clearly something wrong. For the first tape, the name directly indicates the power of 7.36 W per meter, 0.5 W per LED and the luminous flux 55-65 lm per LED. On the meter of this tape there are 60 LEDs and, on the basis of the given data, the tape meter should consume 30 W and give 3300-3900 lm. The truth was in the middle. The tape meter consumes 14.2 W and gives 1664 lm.

For the second tape, the seller indicates in the header a power of 15 W per meter and a luminous flux of 2250 lm per meter. The actual power turned out to be higher - 21.5 W, and the luminous flux slightly lower - 2110 lm.

Both tapes were ordered with a color temperature of 4000K, and in fact they came with a color temperature of about 3100K. Looks like the seller just confused and sent the wrong tape.

The color indices of both ribbons are really high - about 85. Such ribbons can be used for home lighting.

As it turned out, on Aliexpress you can find high-quality LED strip with high color rendering indices. Of course, it costs more than bad tapes, which are overwhelmingly on Aliexpress, but at the same time this quality tape is significantly cheaper than a good LED tape sold in Russia.
