Hello! We continue the cycle of posts about the use of technology purchased by our customers. This article is about the STIGMA SHOW show team and how they create their costumes using the Raise3D N2 Dual 3D printer.
About what
Stigma Show - is a bright geometric patterns, psychedelic images and powerful energy. For ten years now they have been performing all over the world and giving people light, in the literal and figurative sense. The main directions - light, fire and mirror show. ')

Here we will talk about how Stigma Show applies 3D printing in its work.
Raise3D N2 Dual is interesting for its high quality and accuracy of printing, high-quality assembly and accessories, a large work area and the possibility of printing with two materials.
The appearance of this sample of industrial design and the convenience of working with it deserve special attention.
Not so long ago we wrote about this line of printers and translated videos about them:
How to use
A 3D printer is used to print masks and other elements of costumes that participants use in performances.
Each such suit is a complex structure, assembled from a variety of components, including both 3D printed parts and fabric, as well as electronic or reflective parts.
Selection
Alexander Moon, the leader and engineer of the team, tells us how this particular 3D printer was chosen:
“When I thought about which printer to choose, I naturally immediately began looking for printers with a large print area, as I planned to print masks and props for the show. Then I studied the question and realized that not all printers print perfectly, especially large objects.
I wrote in support of the Top 3D Shop and asked what was better to choose, so as not to make “dances with a tambourine” and just print quality details. An employee of the company professionally “divorced” me, from my 75,000 rubles, which I planned to spend on the printer, up to 235,000, for which I am very grateful to him - I notice more and more advantages of this printer, and now I can’t even imagine that it was some other apparatus. ”
How it was done without 3D printing
Stage props for theater, cinema and show business have always been created manually. In the past, they were full-time property designers and then specialized workshops, and this always required resources — time and money.
Stigma Show - the author's project, respectively - Alexander always did the whole props himself, or ordered them according to his own projects.
“In the past, to create a 3D object, I just took a lot of 2D elements and put them together. Or he took more objects and cut out of them all the excess to get what he wanted.
Now everything is easier. I have large objects, sometimes the cost of plastic is about the same as if I ordered a similar part on the side, but considering how much I could spend my time on delivery and processing, the printer seriously wins. ”
Obvious advantages ...
Each model is unique in its own way, and users find something of their own in them. We find out that it was Alexander who liked it.
“I liked Raise exactly because its creators thought about their customers. Bought, set and started typing.
That is, simplicity is one, quality printing is two, silent is three.
The built-in computer does not allow printing to stop without saving and, of course, the appearance of this printer is what I loved for it. ”
... and a sudden bonus
“At first it seemed to me that the printer has only one purpose — to print. But after a couple of months, I realized that he made me learn 3D modeling, and the most interesting bonus that I felt was motivation.
When your printer prints 24 hours a day for two months, then filing at home and being lazy is simply unrealistic, because it stands that way, and with all its appearance it hints:
“Listen, man, well, I’m even working without sleep, and why are you stuck, eh?”
This is another fat plus. "
Minuses
There is nothing perfect, and there are drawbacks in any miracle of technology, that is, you can always improve or add something.
What would it cost to add or fix in a 3D printer Raise, according to Alexander:
“Probably, I would add a material feed sensor. Once I rubbed plastic, in the place where its motor pushes, and the printer prints a part from the air for 10 hours. It turned out somehow loosely :)
Photos of the resulting details:
BuildTak - self-adhesive surface of the platform, not for a long time worked normally.
But when I wipe it with an alcohol wipe and put 60 degrees for PLA printing, everything is perfectly glued. ”
findings
3D printing is successfully used not only in the exhibition art, which we saw in the examples of museums and artists , but also in the promotional art , of which show business is a part.
Additive technologies simplify, cheapen and speed up the creation of both unique costumes in this case, and many unique things in general. Almost any creativity finds support in new technologies, which is good news.
