LePlant Levitating Plant Pot: Details

We have already published on Geektimes several times articles on levitating gadgets. Some look amazing, but not all of them work perfectly. The other day, we received a review of the LePlant pot, so today I’ll tell you about a novelty that paralyzed the work of the whole team for a while.

The pot is assembled and made in Russia, domestic developers have tried. LePlant looks like a mixture of a gardener's dream with a boom dream. One pot is good, but if you imagine how an office or apartment will look like, if you put in a couple dozen of such devices, the “wow effect” is definitely provided. Let's see how it all works.

How does LePlant work?

Clearly, no wiring / suspensions, etc. there is no. The system works on the principle of magnetic levitation. The device consists of two parts. This stand and the pot itself. The stand is made of oak, and inside hides a rather complicated board with more than 100 components and sensors that fix the plates and magnets and allow the pot to be held in the air. Due to the correctly chosen size of the magnets, the pot does not fly off to the side, but slowly hovers over the platform, periodically accelerating or slowing down. A power adapter is connected to the base (cord length is 170 cm), which supplies current to the structure.

In the instructions, which comes in the kit, manufacturers advise to avoid finding electronic devices and metal objects close to LePlant at a distance of less than 20 cm. In fact, no anomalies were noticed during the operation near the PC (for the time being).

How to run LePlant?

The first step is to connect the base (wooden box) to the network. Then, in order to properly place the pot with a plant, it is necessary to take it with two hands. The pot should be brought to the center of the platform, holding tightly. At the point where you feel gravity, you can try to release the pot and see what happens. I managed to run LePlant from the fifth time, over time you can learn how to do it from 1-2 times, there is nothing complicated about it. The important point is that the pot needs to be kept flat so that it spins correctly and does not lean in one direction.

In order to water the plant, and to avoid a possible disruption in the operation of the device due to the ingress of water on the base - the pot is best removed.

The pot itself is 12-sided and small, its diameter is 9.5 cm. The stand is twice as large, its dimensions are 15 * 15 * 3 cm. The pot can be placed on any flat surface - on a windowsill, table or even on the floor. If someone wants to touch or move the plant in the pot - you need to prepare to catch it, watch LePlant better at a safe distance.

At the moment, the pot is presented in 3 colors - light, dark and wenge.
The pot is supplied both separately and complete with the plant, it can be bonsai , tillandsia , hamedorea or Canadian spruce .
It is important to note that each of these plants needs special care. Bonsai prefers diffused light and moderate soil moisture, tillandsia feeds on moisture contained in the air, and spruce will require a cool environment and rare watering. All the necessary information on transplanting and caring for plants is written in the instructions. Due to the fact that the pot does not just hang in the air, but rotates - all parts of the plant receive the same amount of light.

Specifications:

In general, the LePlant pot is ideal for both home and office. Any plant can be planted in it - a small tree floating in the air attracts the attention of both office guests and its employees.
