Translate One2One: a portable synchronous translator based on IBM Watson

The capabilities of the IBM Watson cognitive system are very large (you can read about what it is, you can read on Habré ). And these opportunities are used by very many - this applies to doctors, financiers, lawyers, insurers, mining companies and, of course, scientists.

Now the cognitive system has begun work as a digital assistant-translator. We are talking about a miniature system for simultaneous translation, which was called Translate One2One.

The most interesting thing is that this new product works without connecting to a mobile network or smartphone. Translate One2One is not a concept, soon headphones for simultaneous translation should be on sale. The creators of this system used a number of IBM Watson algorithms, including artificial intelligence technology for speech recognition and the Language Translator API. The system is perfect enough to take into account the peculiarities of translation, dialects and even slang. So, in the same Spanish, depending on the place of residence of the native speaker, the combination “ll” can be pronounced as “» ”,“ J ”or“ w ”. The system "understands" all this and translates correctly.

“We hope that our translator will be useful for everyone - from travelers to small and large businesses,” says Danny May, the head of Lingmo International. “In the digital era, business and the community are globalizing. But modern translator applications cannot work with natural language and context, so the translation is often incorrect. ” For example, in a different context, the phrase “that's cool” can mean “cool” or “cold.”

Works Translate One2One at once with several languages, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese (Mandarin) and Japanese. A separate phrase gadget translates 3-5 seconds. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not name the battery life.

The translator was presented at the UnitedNations AI for Good Summit in Geneva. Now pre-order is available at a price of $ 179, the system should go on sale in July.

According to the developers, any person who travels often and often may endanger himself from being misunderstood or misunderstood. Translators, such as the Translate One2One system, will be very useful for both such travelers and those who need correct and correct translation.
