Just a few days ago, on his 46th birthday, Ilon Musk announced the completion of the passage of the first tunnel segment near Los Angeles. Unfortunately, it is not yet known where exactly this tunnel is located, what is the length of the first segment and in general, in which direction it is being laid. All we know is that he has to connect Los Angeles International Airport with Culver City and other areas, which will reduce the time that an ordinary driver spends on the road in half an hour (with traffic jams) to just five minutes.



The tunnels themselves, according to plan, should be multi-level . This will relieve the load on the road network and place the cars under the ground. Down the car down a special freight elevator. Next, the car is placed on a special truck, which moves at a speed of about 200 km / h. At the same time, there can be no oncoming cars, overtakings and road accidents - they are excluded due to the design of the tunnel itself. There are restrictions on speed, but they are due only to the technical capabilities of the trucks and the system that sets them in motion. So, next week the company is going to install an elevator .



The steel frame in the elevator shaft has already been installed, so it only remains to wait for the installation of the lift itself.

The hardest thing, according to Mask, is not to dig tunnels, but to negotiate with the legislators and the city administration. Now negotiations are underway with the mayor, after which, as the entrepreneur hopes, he and his company, called The Boring Company, will untie their hands. Actually, since the tunnel is already under construction, this company has already received official approval for work from the local authorities. Well, then, as they say, is a matter of technology (and lawyers).





Earlier, Ilon Mask talked about how the tunnel and the new transport system will work on TED. According to him, there are no restrictions on how many tunnels there can be and levels of tunnels. For example, a businessman said that the deepest tunnels could lie at a depth of several hundred meters.



This idea seems a bit fantastic, but Musk has already proved that he can do many projects that seem impossible. Perhaps it will be possible to implement a new project on the creation of transport tunnels in large cities.
