Twitter team launched streaming service 360 ° video in its Periscope application

The microblogging service team Twitter introduced a new functionality to its audience for its second project - Periscope. Now users will be able to conduct live broadcasts with a 360 degree view. In order to use the new function as a viewer, simply connect to the corresponding Periscope broadcast and pull the image in the desired direction.

The way it works is demonstrated by Alessandro Sabateli, VR director and AR-division of Twitter, on Twitter's official blog:

During the broadcast, Alessandro used a special 360-degree camera, which he and his girlfriend connected to a smartphone.

For the time being, a 360 ° video will be used only by a limited number of people as part of testing. At the same time, Alessandro is already positioning the new functionality as a tool for Live-broadcasts, during which everyone will be able to see what interests him.

The quality of the video leaves much to be desired, but the very possibility of broadcasting a 360-degree review looks more than attractive. So, with the help of Periscope, it will be possible to conduct backstage tours or to broadcast during any events.

Last year was not easy for Twitter. First of all, the microblogging service is under constant pressure from its main competitor in the face of the social network Facebook. In order to avoid absorption by any other player in the market, the leadership of Twitter is actively looking for new areas suitable for development. One of them are live-broadcasts.

In this case, Facebook is already coming microblogging service on the heels. The Mark Zuckerberg company is planning to launch the 360-degree streaming function in the coming months.
