Nokia has sued Apple for breaching the latest patent rights of a Finnish company. This is reported on the official website of Nokia. Nokia plans to sue Apple both in the United States and in Europe, specifically in Germany.

Nokia representatives claim that Apple has long been violating a number of patents of the Finnish company. After purchasing NSN in 2013 and Alcatel-Lucent in 2016, Nokia became a major holder of technology patents that are widely used in smartphones, tablets, personal computers and other devices.

The last time Apple licensed the use of patented technologies from the portfolio of Nokia Technologies back in 2011. After that, the company from Cupertino introduced a number of technologies into its developments, the rights to which, according to representatives of the Finnish company, belong to Nokia.

“Thanks to our stable investment in research and development, Nokia has created or contributed to the creation of many core technologies that are now used in mobile devices, including Apple products. After several years of unsuccessful negotiations and attempts to reach an agreement and license Apple’s use of our patented technologies, we are taking appropriate measures to protect our rights, ”said Nokia head of the patent department Ilkka Rahnasto.

In total, we are talking about the violation of 32 patents, including patents on user interface elements, chipsets, displays, antennas and other engineering solutions in the design of devices.

At the same time, Nokia is not going to stop at lawsuits in the US and German courts and is preparing applications to other instances.

Apple is not the first time violates the patents of other companies. So she had to pay $ 24.9 million for patent infringement Dynamic Advances when creating her voice assistant Siri. Earlier this year, Apple lost another patent case and paid $ 625 million for its Facetime application from VirnetX.
