I suggest a little distraction from the microscope and together watch a small collection of slow motion video.
The story began with the fact that about a year ago I purchased a Sony RX100 IV camera . She turned out to be an unusually good thing (and my friend, who understands this technique, does not advise the bad) and became the main video recording tool both in the garage-laboratory and on trips around the world.
A distinctive feature of this camera is that it can produce accelerated shooting, the so-called slow motion at a speed of 1000 frames per second. Shot video looks 40 times slower, and this is very useful for popular science videos. ')
Slow motion video I combined into a playlist, which is called - 1000 FPS .
Gull
Let's start with the graceful flight of the seagull. I shot this video from the ferry, which moored to the island of Gotland . At that moment, when the side engines of the ship are working, fish are thrown to the surface of the water, which gets into them. For her and the birds hunt.
Squirrel
Waking up one morning and sitting down for breakfast, I saw a squirrel outside the window. My camera is always at hand. Of course, I did not have time to adjust all the parameters of the video, but the squirrel decided to jump at the right moment. Never before have I seen a squirrel very much like a cat.
Dragonfly
Dragonfly is a very fast insect, it flies at a speed of up to 50 km / h, and also takes off very quickly. But this instance has decided to repeatedly pose for me.
Waxwings
Another video about birds, but from a different angle and in Russia.
Waterman
These insects are also very, very fast. Especially well they get an acceleration from 0 to working speed, and all sorts of turns. Some of their maneuvers managed to shoot in their own pond.
Water and stone
Change the subject and move on to inanimate objects. That's what happens if you throw a stone at the Baltic Sea.
Electron-beam TV
This is the most popular video from my collection. More than 120 thousand views, dispersed in gifs across the expanses of the Internet.
I spotted what was shown on TV at that moment:
Plasma TV
But you probably have not seen a plasma TV yet. Psychedelic spectacle.
Metal cutting
Cut the metal abrasive disc. For the sake of clarity, we have violated safety. The person who cuts the video knows what he is doing. And he knows how to do it carefully. Do not repeat on your own!
Perforator hammer
I took a camera, a perforator and hammered the plaster on the wall. It turned out very well.
How matches are lit
The most interesting thing in this video, as it seemed to me, is that the match burns for a while without any flames.
Cat eats
And finally, of course, cat!
There are some more videos in the playlist . And also I plan to publish new ones that have not yet been processed.
If you're interested, check out YouTube next week, then I'll post it already, or use the automatic notification (be careful, I post other non-fiction videos of less funny and more serious subjects, and not just cats).
I will be glad to hear your wishes about what (or anyone else) to photograph on a high-speed video camera!
UPD: Advise what music to add to the video for a more enjoyable viewing. Or vice versa, leave as is?
UPD2: I added a video about a CRT TV and found a program that was shown at that moment. You can compare how it looks.
