According to
AP , Sony plans to reduce the cost of production of PlayStation 3 consoles, intended for sale in Europe, by replacing the processor, which provides compatibility with games for PS2, with its software emulation.
Such a move, apparently, is caused by the desire to reduce the losses that the company still suffers because of the PlayStation 3.
It should be noted that the version of the console, which is already sold in the US and Japan, does not work well with thousands of old games, despite the presence of the PS2 chip. How it will affect the use of emulation, the Europeans will know on March 23.
