"Perhaps pirated" Windows

Microsoft has updated its Windows Genuine Advantage utility, which determines the legality of the Windows version installed on the computer and decides to limit its functionality in case the verification fails.

In the new version, an important feature has been added: if the WGA cannot completely determine whether it is dealing with a pirated or with a “legitimate” OS, it assigns it the status of “maybe pirated”, which is immediately reported to the user.

The need for such a modification of the program arose after numerous cases of unfair decisions that were made to it as a result of the inability to connect to the server or any other problems. The user now has the opportunity to troubleshoot and repeat the OS license check, or ignore the messages of suspicious WGA.
