In an interview with the Huffington Post, the author of the best-selling book Martian, Andy Weir,
shared his plans for his new book, which, according to the plans of the publisher, should be released at the end of 2016 or early 2017. The need to participate in the promotion and advertising of "Martian" takes Weir a lot of time, so it is terribly behind the schedule established by the publishing house Random House.
As the writer said, the protagonist of the new book, the name of which is still unknown, will be a woman whose main task will be to study the moon. Since Weir did not have to write on behalf of a woman before, he was a little worried about whether the statement would be as plausible as it was in Martian.
It is noteworthy that in 2014, Weir
talked about his second book, which was to be called “Zhek” and which was supposed to be on sale in 2016. It was supposed to be a three-dimensional work, from several books, with a complex plot that was to develop on the Moon. In the development of history, obviously fantastic elements were used, such as traveling at speeds exceeding the speed of light, aliens and telepathy.
Apparently, the plans of the writer and publisher have changed, and the new novel, although it retained the scene of the Moon, will have a familiar Martian style - strict science fiction, creating the effect of believability. Weir is well acquainted with many astronauts and can consult with NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) specialists on issues of interest to him.
