Student teams that will participate in the competition to build a capsule model for Hyperloop are selected.
The selection of student teams and enthusiasts who will take part in the HYPERLOOP POD COMPETITION competition, announced by SpaceX, has ended . Under the terms of the competition, teams will have to design and build a full-size capsule suitable for moving people along the Hyperloop track. The route itself will be built at the expense of SpaceX so that teams can test the capsules they have created. Construction will be conducted in Nevada and the final length of the route will be 1 kilometer. According to the rules of the competition, all its results will be open. In total, more than 120 teams were selected to participate in the competition. Most of the participants represent US universities, but you can find teams from Uzbekistan, Poland, Romania, Germany and Italy in the list. At the end of January 2016, on the basis of Texas A & M University, all teams will present their projects that they offer for implementation. The competition commission is present including the US Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx (Anthony Foxx). The event will take about two days, and the winning team will get a chance to realize their development on the test track.
By 2017, Hyperloop Technologies plans to build a full-scale 3 km long track to fully test the prototype of the future transport system, taking into account the stated speed from 480 to 1,220 km / h. Neither Hyperloop Technologies nor its competitor with a very similar name participate in the announced competition, but are engaged in their developments independently of SpaceX and from each other.
Construction of the commercial version of Hyperloop is scheduled for 2020. Earlier, Ilon Musk estimated the cost of creating a commercial highway Hyperloop at $ 68 billion. A short story about the project can be viewed on the video below: ')
