Russian scientist suggested mastering the moon through robots avatars

Oleg Saprykin, the head of the department of manned programs of the Roscosmos Institute, suggested using robot-avatars to work on the surface of the Moon, which would be controlled remotely by humans from Earth or from space.

Control of such a robot should occur through an exoskeleton with a back link. Wearing an exoskeleton, a man “actually seems to be immersed in the body of this avatar,” explained Saprykin at a press conference on the manned space expedition to Mars.

“Using such a robot, it is possible, I would even say not virtually, but practically realistically, to travel in the solar system. First of all, on the moon it is interesting to use it, because ... What is the control of this robot on the moon? In fact, with those delays that are now with the Moon - it is about 4 seconds - you can use the copy mode. In real time, a person will work with this robot, ”he explained.

Experiments in the field of space exploration with the help of haptics (technologies for controlling remote robots equipped with feedback sensors) are already being actively carried out. In September, the European cosmonaut from Denmark, Andreas Mogensen, who had been delivered shortly before the ISS using the Soyuz rocket, conducted the Interact experiment, controlling the all-terrain robot with feedback. At the same time, a robot equipped with manipulators is located in the hangar of the ESTEC Technical Center (European Center for Space Research and Technology), located in the Netherlands.

In 2013, the Android Technological Research and Production Association presented a sample of a humanoid robot SAR-401, designed to work in open space. As planned, the astronauts inside the space station module should control the robot. The robot also works on the principle of avatar - it is managed by a person dressed in a special suit. Except Russia, while only the USA, Japan and Germany are involved in space robots.

To date, the Roscosmos program for the exploration of the moon includes the construction of a ground-based prototype of a lunar base by 2020 , an autonomous flight to the moon by 2025, and a manned spacecraft by 2029 . So far, the RSC Energia website is voting on the name for the future manned transport ship. With a significant margin in the competition
is leading
the name "Gagarin".
