Perhaps the idea seems banal, obvious or already planned, nonetheless.
Since the beginning of the era of Supergabra and up to the present, not from the good life, a common practice in writing articles with illustrations has been storing them on a hosting of images like
http://imageshack.us or lecherstvo from original publications.
It is clear that sometime a few kind words like “onclick = '...'” will be added to the “insert image” button, but as time goes on, articles are being written. And after what time instead of the pictures yellow toads will appear - it is not known for sure.
')
I suggest, as the hype subsides, to make automatic processing of already finished texts for downloading similar external images and changing their links to local ones.
UPD: Already after the publication I noticed a recommendation to
refrain from writing articles with Habr discussion . Of course, I apologize for this, but I think that the proposal may be interesting for regular blogs, so I still want to leave it for everyone to see.
