Postman robots will appear in the US and the UK in 2016
While leading companies are testing quadrocopters as air mailmen , robots on wheels from Estonian start-ups are likely to be seen on the roads of American and British cities next year. Authorship of a promising development belongs to Ahti Heinl - co-founder of Skype and his company Starship Technologies .

Wheel postman size does not exceed a small dog. On city streets, it can reach 4 km / h, which is approximately equal to the speed of a pedestrian.
A postal item up to 9 kg is free to get into a special Starship unit. Only the addressee will be able to open such a parcel thanks to a reliable fastening system. Mobile application will allow to monitor the movement of the parcel.
The operator is intended to help the robot, which is included in the work if the system is lost on the road. Also, speakers and microphone included in the package, allow the operator to contact people on the road if they interfere with movement.
Starship assures that delivery using their system will cost up to 15 times less than any known method. Test the robot will be in 2016. They will start with the USA and Great Britain, and after that they will pass to other states.
