Review of the third international exhibition Robotics Expo 2015 in Moscow

The third international exhibition Robotics Expo 2015 is over in Moscow. The guests talked with promoter robots, shied away from low-flying multicopters, patted the robot guards, looked at the capabilities of industrial manipulators, and rooted for the participants in the robot fights.

Industrial Robot Manipulators

An industrial robotic arm, in the GOST language, is “an automatic machine, stationary or mobile, consisting of an actuator in the form of a manipulator with several degrees of mobility, and a reprogrammable program control device for performing motor and control functions in the production process”. Such robots differ depending on the number of joints and their “flexibility”. A tool is installed on their wrist - it can be a drill, saw, hammer, tong or torch, it all depends on the needs of production.

At the third international exhibition Robotics Expo in Moscow presented the possibilities of such robots - manipulators fought with lightsabers, cut bushes and threw bones.

Kuka Manipulators

Industrial robots Kuka come from Germany. They are the leaders of the global automotive industry, but use them in many areas. Kuka manipulators are six-axis robots of any size and capacity, they are able to stack pallets, are engaged in assembly and welding, can work in a sterile room and are highly accurate.
Kuka loves to play tennis, and he is good at it.

At the Robotics Expo 2015, Kuka robots staged a small show on Star Wars.

At the booth of the Russian company Quantum Systems there was a Kuka manipulator programmed to form bushes. The company, using the example of a robot gardener, presented technologies of high-precision determination of coordinates and orientation and generation of the trajectories of movement of an industrial manipulator in real time. Processing 3D point clouds allows you to determine the coordinates with an accuracy of more than five millimeters by fifty meters, the developers say.

Yaskawa Robot Welder

Yaskawa has developed the Arcsystem welding systems. These complexes are a fence with one or two robots performing welding operations. The complex is selected individually for the needs of production, there are more than six hundred possible combinations with different welding torches with air or water cooling, tracks for moving robots and the bases for them.

When the Arcsystem complex is installed on the platform, it can be transferred using a forklift or a crane - the hole for the forklift and eye bolts are already on the platform.

Fanuc Robot

Fanuc manipulator allows you to install almost any equipment on it. This Japanese company was once a subsidiary of Fujitsu.

Universal manipulator Universal Robots

You do not need a protective fence for the Universal Robots manipulator - it is certified to work with people. The manipulator frees them from the monotonous work.

An example of the use of such a robot in production is a small enterprise Thiele, which produces small-scale batches of tools for design, processing, testing and measuring equipment. The robot's duties are to open the doors, load the raw materials, tighten the chuck of the milling machine and put the part aside after milling. In addition, he checks the quality of products using an image processing system.

At the production of the company Oticon, producing hearing aids, the manipulator works with parts of about a millimeter in length. Devices are becoming less, therefore, requires high accuracy. The manipulator moves over the mold, removing microscopic plastic parts. The robot performs the operation using a vacuum system specially designed for this process.

Unmanned aerial vehicles

Quadcopters and other drones are not only entertainment, but also photo and video from a height, assistance to geologists, distribution of the Internet in hard-to-reach places, advertising, delivery of goods. Unmanned aerial vehicles perform these and a number of other tasks .

At the Robotics Expo, Copter Express , the one that delivered Dodo Pizza, presented their quadcopters. That drone didn’t fit at the exhibition, but a quadrocopter, which delivered Yota SIM cards, was presented at the stand.

Unfortunately, they didn’t give quadrocopters to everyone, it’s too dangerous.

Robots to protect the home

A cute robot pet, similar in its behavior to a cat, gladly crawled into the hands of children and adults, allowed himself to be stroked, expressed emotions with the help of a display and soundtrack (he hummed when he was scratched behind the ear). Such a robot can not only walk around the apartment, but also monitor the security of the house: send notifications from the camera to the host’s smartphone in case of intruders, video surveillance.

The analogue of such a pet is a small robot that performs the role of a voice assistant. He reads news and leads video shooting. To turn it off, you need to wear special eye glasses on it.

Drone "Geoscan 201" can fly within 150 minutes. During this time, he will perform aerial photography of more than eight thousand hectares at an altitude of six hundred meters. An ordinary and infrared camera is installed on board to receive photo-realistic and index maps. This drone is used for farming, for mine surveyors at mining sites, for mapping, tracking the status of cultural sites, for monitoring power lines, surveying roads, and monitoring pipeline leakage.

The exhibition was a lot of multicopter variety of forms.

Assistant robots

People have long dreamed of robots helping them around the house. Now this dream is coming true, but in a somewhat different form than that shown in the movie “I, Robot”. We do not have so many anthropomorphic robots, but vacuum cleaners and lawn mowers are already available for the house, who keep order and put themselves in charge.

Robots promoters

Robots are able to engage in sales at car dealerships and other organizations, to be secretaries, to participate in promotions. They are able to communicate with people, answer questions, and having a tablet or built-in touchscreen display simplifies this interaction.

Kiki, a promoter robot from AlfaRobotics.

Robot Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin told the guests of the exhibition poems of his illustrious prototype.

This mannequin is moving, attracting people's attention.

Robot-Santa Claus own development of one of the Russian companies. In its arsenal also - a robotic chassis for transporting cakes for weddings and other purposes.

Users can interact with this robot using a tablet installed on it.

A separate class of robots is remote presence robots, which are chassis with a smartphone attached to it.

Robot journalist Robohunter talked and interviewed visitors, told them interesting stories, and even sang songs for the youngest.
