"Father" Siri showed a smarter assistant girl named Viv

Viv's current catalog of knowledge about wine: this is a small part of the semantic graph of the program

Yesterday at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference , a presentation of Dag Kittlaus (Dag Kittlaus), the creator and former lead developer of the Siri program, took place.

Kittlaus spoke about the progress in the development of a new intellectual chatbot — the Viv girl, who greatly surpasses the old Siri in intelligence. The developer demonstrated how difficult questions Viv answers, how she works closely with third-party applications and API, how much better her memory is compared to forgetful and frivolous Siri.

Doug started the Viv presentation with simple questions and weather, etc., then moved on to intricate puzzles:
')
“Will it be warmer than 20 degrees near the Golden Gate Bridge the day after tomorrow after five in the evening?”

Viv answered each of the complex questions accurately.

Doug Kittlaus stressed that Viv is not just a personal assistant, but a universal platform open for the integration of third-party applications. For example, during the presentation, he asked to give a friend 20 bucks for yesterday's drink - and Viv obediently made the transfer through Venmo .

Unlike Siri, the new assistant girl doesn’t forget instantly what you talked about a minute ago. She perceives new questions as a continuation of the conversation in the context of previous information.

Viv called the trump card that she “dynamically generates programs” (Dynamic Program Generation) to formalize a fuzzy query to generate the best response.

Doug Kittlaus - the real father of Siri (Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface), he founded the company Siri in 2007, using the development in the field of artificial intelligence of the Stanford Research Institute. Initially, Siri worked with almost 45 services, but in 2010 Apple bought it for $ 200 million for use exclusively on iOS devices.

The new company Viv.ai was founded for four years and received more than $ 12.5 million in venture financing, including from such investors as Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg, Jack Dorsey and others.

Kittlaus rejected suggestions for purchasing Viv from Google and Facebook.

The developer has promised that experience Viv in real communication will be available later this year.
