
It is likely that in Moscow and other metropolitan areas Internet access will be free for all residents. This will happen around 2030, says Alexei Chukarin, head of the analytical division of the Moscow IT department. He announced the forecast during a
speech at the round table "Smart Home: Architecture of the New Time".
Instead of a connection fee and traffic, content monetization will come, Chukarin explained. Internet providers will be transformed into multiservice companies or sell, lease the infrastructure they have created.
As of 2015, about 75% of residents are Internet users. 89% use cellular communication. In Moscow, organized "universal access via Wi-Fi, including transport and public areas."

The Internet has become the most significant segment of the ICT industry (about 1.1 trillion rubles), and by 2030 the Internet economy will reach new frontiers. All Moscow residents will be connected to the Network, and users will be identified in real time.
In his report, Alexey Chukarin spoke about the current state of Moscow’s information infrastructure, which stores about 50 petabytes of city data. He noted the processing difficulties (for example, video analytics in real time) and the complexity with the structure and choice of the significant data.
In 2030, data will surround us everywhere, “everything is data,” the presentation says. It is necessary to solve problems with the storage volume, analytics in real time and the choice of significant data among other information files.
Worldwide, by the year 2030, more than 100 billion IoT devices will work, and smart cities will appear.
Major changes are expected in the Internet economy of Moscow. The authorities are counting on using a single user identifier and are preparing to use new financial instruments, including cryptocurrency.

Alexey Chukarin also noted that so far there are questions about the parameters for using national cryptocurrencies.
