Google back in 2013 warned that it was going to stop supporting Chrome browser on older, unsupported operating systems like Windows XP. Yesterday
officially announced the date when Chrome users will stop coming updates. This will happen in April 2016.
Since April, the release of updates for Chrome under Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X 10.6, 10.7 and 10.8, "because these platforms are deprived of active support from Microsoft and Apple," stops.
Chrome will continue to work, but without updates and security patches.
Chrome updates close critical security vulnerabilities that are found every month, so using the old browser version seriously weakens computer protection. On the other hand, for the same Windows XP, security updates have not been sent to ordinary users for quite some time (only to paid corporate clients, such as the
US Army or
the UK government ), so there can be no security whatsoever.

Another thing - Windows Vista, which Microsoft is going to officially support until April 2017, releasing security updates. But this is an unpopular OS. According
to StatCounter statistics , in October 2015, the market share of Windows XP on desktop computers was 9.03% (in China - 30%, in developed countries - 3-4%), and the share of Windows Vista - 1.77%. So the rejection of Windows Vista for a company with the rest of outdated operating systems makes sense.
Google encourages all users of outdated OS to move to more modern platforms to get the latest versions of Chrome with new features.
