Stanford scientists are working on flexible sensors that restore the somatosensory system during prosthetics
A video appeared in which Professor Zhenan Bao presented their technology.
It is about creating flexible sensors that could fully restore the natural sensitivity during prosthetics. For this, the sensors being developed will send signals directly to the brain, which is more like “nerve messages” than the technologies currently used.
Now analog devices process signals, but first they are sent for analysis and conversion into impulses to other electronic devices, which approximately reproduces the sensations that people experience when they touch.
No human experiments have been performed at this time. ')
